Election Day, while not a traditional school holiday in the “real world,” is a school holiday in the Palm Beach County School District. The reason: many schools are used as polling places and the school district is unable to keep the general public away from the general population of students who attend public school.

This is the fourth day off for public school students in Palm Beach County this year. Students will be off again in just days — on November 11th. Then again for a full week starting on November 23rd.

The winter holiday starts on December 21st and continues through January 5th.
