BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2026 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — Speed cameras are coming to three more Boca Raton school zones starting Nov. 9, serving Calusa Elementary School, Blue Lake Elementary School and Omni Middle School/Spanish River High School. That brings the city’s total to six.
Each zone gets a 30-day warning period when its cameras are first activated. After that, driving 11 mph or more over the posted speed limit while the lights are flashing means a $100 civil penalty, though citations won’t put points on a license or affect auto insurance rates.
Cameras capture violations only when the school zone lights are flashing. At Calusa Elementary, 2051 Clint Moore Road, that’s 7:05 to 8:05 a.m. and 2 to 2:35 p.m. Blue Lake Elementary, at Military Trail and Potomac Road, runs 7:20 to 8:05 a.m. and 2 to 2:35 p.m. The Omni/Spanish River zone, at Jog Road and Yamato Road, has the longest hours: 7 to 9:35 a.m. and 2:45 to 4:35 p.m.
The city runs the School Zone Safety Program with RedSpeed and says the cameras help deter speeding and improve safety for drivers, bikers and pedestrians. The program was already in place in the Addison Mizner School, Boca Raton Community High School and J.C. Mitchell Elementary School zones.
