So Many Instagram Idiots Living In Boca. And Apparently On Long Island Bagels.

BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2026 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — We are constantly surprised by the incredible incompetence of so many who live in Boca Raton, Delray Beach, Boynton Beach, and beyond. Many of you are incredibly intelligent and engaged in the community. That’s why you love BocaNewsNow.com. Then there are the Insta-idiots and NextDoorons who don’t know how to read. The people who live on social media but can’t understand that a headline is, well, a headline. And the story is below the headline.

Case in point: the story we ran last week about the horrible inspection report for Long Island Bagel. Turns out there are two Long Island Bagels in Boca Raton, because everyone knows that in Boca Raton, you can’t have enough Long Island. You know, the place with the people whose cars are on the carriers causing traffic problems all over the area right now. The same people whose cars will be on carriers causing more problems in the Fall. (Ed. Note: Don’t send the “that’s code for talking about a religion” email. It’s not).

Here’s the deal: we couldn’t have been more clear in our article that the location in question was Long Island Bagel And Deli at 21667 State Road 7. That’s the Long Island Bagel location next to Target in West Boca. It was in the first sentence of the story. Our featured image also showed their website which includes the address. It is not the company that decided to use a similar name (Long Island Bagel Cafe) when it opened in 2025 — years and years after the restaurant next to Target opened. Yes, it’s seemingly a copycat company that just had to use the “Long Island” name because, well, this is Boca Raton. And you can’t have enough Long Island in Boca Raton.

Yet we have received scores and scores of calls, emails, even some threats from people who say we should have made it more clear that this was the location next to Target. Our response: Oh My God. LEARN HOW TO READ. The first paragraph in the story says exactly what we’re talking about. But in a world of Instagram Idiots — people who just see a headline and don’t know how read more than a few words — facts are lost.

There’s really little else to say other than this: if you threaten us, if you make absurd claims, or if you just post idiotic things, we’re going to publish it. Before you send the email, before you leave voicemail, before you make a threat: please learn how to process information. And if you need to live your life scrolling on social media because you have nothing else to do, maybe learn how to click once in a while so you read the story and know what is being reported.

    1. Lois, your post is an example of exactly what he said in this article. You didn’t read the article. He specifically pointed out a certain group of people that do not read articles and just get upset about them. He never said, at any point in this article, that he hates all people in South Florida. You made that up in your own mind and got upset about it, suggesting he should leave the area because of something he never said, and that you imagined in your own brain. Reading comprehension is important. Go back and read the article very slowly, word by word, and see if it makes more sense to you a second time…or third….

  1. If we are setting the record straight… FYI from someone who is shockingly from Long Island, the Long Island Bagel Cafe that opened in 2025 in Boca IS from New York and has multiple locations with the same name on Long Island, didn’t just “decide to use the same name.”
