BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2021 MetroDesk Media, LLC) (Source: YMCA Verbatim) — The YMCA of South Palm Beach County is inviting the community to the official Grand Opening of its’ newest space designed specifically for teens, THE LAB: YMCA Leadership Academy. Located at the Town Center at Boca Raton, THE LAB offers year-round leadership development programming for youth ages 12 to 17, with a focus on preparing them to succeed and serve through civic engagement, college and career readiness, and workforce development.

“This endeavor is the first of its kind in our YMCA’s 49-year history,” states Jason Hagensick, President & CEO of the YMCA of South Palm Beach County. “The goal of this new initiative is to provide a safe and interactive space where teens can discover new interests, collaborate with one another, and prepare for the future.”

THE LAB will also provide extensive training and volunteer opportunities that support local community programs and services.

On April 24, 2021, the Y is hosting an official Grand Open House Showcase at THE LAB from 11:00am – 3:00pm, requesting attendees RSVP for a personal tour. The Showcase will follow all recommended guidelines from the CDC and facial coverings/masks will be required.

“For 40 years, Town Center at Boca Raton has been dedicated to providing a destination where local families can gather and create memories,” states Sal Saldaña, General Manager, Town Center at Boca Raton. “The partnership with the YMCA of South Palm Beach County is a natural extension of that mission, creating an innovative space where local tweens and teens can work together on fun, interactive projects while developing skills for the future.
