BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2021 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — The Palm Beach County School District is on track to more than double last year’s entire COVID-19 case count before the semester ends, but that’s not stopping a handful of parents from filing yet another lawsuit. In a suit that has all the makings of a science fiction novel, parents are complaining that masks — proven to reduce the spread of disease — are somehow bad.
Leading the charge this time is a group of parents, largely from Loxahatchee, Jupiter, Palm Beach Gardens and West Palm Beach. Only two families appear to be from South Palm Beach County – including Boca Raton and Boynton Beach. School District employees have told BocaNewsNow.com that many of the parents protesting masks are “nut jobs” who are “not taken seriously.” According to multiple sources, “almost all students are complying with the mask mandate because they want to keep their friends safe. They play along with hyped up parents and then do the right thing when they get to school.”
The latest suit names as Plaintiffs: Alexia Bolt; John Schmitt and Amanda Schmitt; Gareth Bradley and Amanda Bradley; Erik Bandy and Courtney Bandy; Marisa Locke; Sean Rook; Kelvin You and Jessica Szabo; Adriane Semidei; Alexandra Olsson; Anora Pyatigorskaya; Ashley Poulette; Chelsea Packard; Deanna Hrehorvoich; Diana Manali; Esther May Scigliano; Jamie Grala; Jessica Martinez; Jill Santagata; Karla Millan; Kim Savino; Ana Kaufmann; Lisa Russo; Martha Rogge; Nicole Walker; Michael Lefebvre and Tanya Lefebvre; Phillip Kevin Young, Jr., and Tiffany Young; Frank Antonucci and Tracy Antonucci; Amber Costa and Christopher Costa; and Michael Leone.
The lawsuit is as inflammatory as it is long. It features sentences like, “parents (provided) data to demonstrate the ineffectiveness of forced facial coverings and relaying personal and traumatic experiences lived by their children under facial coverings,” “In obstinate defiance of the Florida Constitution… the School Board reinstated the most destructive of all potential alternatives: its odious involuntary Facial Covering mandate for children.”
The filing goes on and on. It focuses on children with allergies. Asthma. Someone who has a chin issue that makes wearing a mask difficult. Don’t forget the psychological issues. The trauma. The horror that these parents experienced when the school district told them to get a federal exemption — which no one apparently did because they didn’t qualify.
