BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2024 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A major event attracting as many as one thousand people is set for the Chabad in West Boca Raton late Sunday afternoon. The event could cause traffic congestion in the area of U.S. 441 and Kimberly Blvd.

The Chabad shared this advisory with BocaNewsNow.com:

“With wartime tensions continuing in Israel, a retired Boynton Beach businessman is joining forces with local Chabad organizations on May 5 in a bid to raise Jewish awareness among South Florida youth (ages 5-16).  The businessman, Richie Cohen, originally from Long Island and now living in Hunters Run in Boynton Beach, is donating 700 pairs of Converse high-top shoes to be distributed 50/50 to youth participating in an event at Chabad of West Boca and to Israeli youths.

Attending youths in Boca Raton, who along with their families have been asked to dress in white and blue, will be able to decorate their new sneakers with airbrush painting and rhinestones. Working with the kids will be volunteers from the Hunters Run community who will show the kids how to tie a Star Of David on a blue canvas background with white laces. The event also will demonstrate the inter-generational camaraderie of old and young.”

Rabbi Moshe Kramer of the West Boca congregation is overseeing the event. Tickets are $5 per person.
