PALM BEACH, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) — If you are a lover of wine, or buying wine, mark January 25th on your calendar. That’s the date of the Palm Beach Wine Auction to benefit the Kravis center. Here’s the bad news: you need to be invited. From the official press release:

More than 140 friends and supporters are expected to attend this invitation-only event that sells-out every year and raises funds for the Kravis Center’s award-winning education programs. For more information, please visit http://www.palmbeachwineauction.org.

Palm Beach Wine Auction Founder & Chair Ted Mandes, who is also a member of the Kravis Center’s Board of Directors, emphasizes that the event’s mission is to “share the cultural wealth” by further advancing and broadening the scope of the educational experience of our youth.

“It is not just a cause, but an ongoing obligation,” he declares. “The annual Palm Beach Wine Auction provides us the opportunity to involve the entire community and create awareness of the Kravis Center’s education programs that are so vital to our youth today.”

“The secret behind our event’s considerable appeal is the simple fact that we stay true to our original vision – to remain small and high-end no matter how great the pressure to do otherwise,” says Mandes. “Truly, our upcoming 2012 Palm Beach Wine Auction, our Fifth Anniversary Celebration, will be every bit as glamorous as previous editions only more so because this year we have a lot to celebrate!”

“Whether you call it élan, cachet, panache, esprit or je ne sais quoi, I can tell you from first-hand experience there’s something indisputably unique about the Palm Beach Wine Auction,” says event supporter and long-time Palm Beach resident David Hamilton. “Redolent with good cheer (and here I’m not referring to the effect of the delicious wines), the Palm Beach Wine Auction rivals a glowing evening right out of La Belle Époque.”

“The Palm Beach Wine Auction is an unbelievable opportunity to wine and dine in a sumptuous environment, purchase unbelievable wine values, and walk away with the satisfaction of knowing you’re doing something to improve the lives of young people throughout the Palm Beaches,” adds Hamilton, the brother of well-tanned movie actor George Hamilton (who is starring in the Kravis On Broadway production of La Cage Aux Folles, February 14-19).

The wine auction will once again be under the direction of Michael Troise, the retired Auction Director for NY Wines/Christie’s Fine and Rare Wine Department and an expert with more than 40 years experience in tasting, buying and brokering wines from vintages dating as far back as the late eighteenth century.

The 2012 Palm Beach Wine Auction on January 25 will start with a reception in The Tapestry Bar at The Breakers from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., followed by an elegant five-course dinner and wine auction in The Circle Room. The ticket price is $750 per person.
