BOYNTON BEACH, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2023 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — It’s now the upscale community of Equus in west Boynton Beach going after a homeowner for failure to pay mandatory fees and dues. That homeowner, Mark Slayden, has been delinquent for more than a year, according to a complaint just filed with the Palm Beach County Clerk of Courts and obtained by BocaNewsNow.com.
The complaint, initiated by the Equus Property Owners Association, alleges that Slayden owes $9,063.74. That includes maintenance assessments at $1470 per quarter that cover the time period of January 1, 2020 through March 31, 2021. While not specified in the complaint, it appears collections were not initiated during the COVID-19 era.
It was unclear if Slayden has paid since the March of 2021. It is not stated in the lawsuit which only covers the January, 2020 through March, 2021 time period.
Equus is represented by Daniel Wasserstein of Wasserstein P.A. In Boca Raton. There was no immediate response filed by Slayden. The suit is the latest in a series of suits filed by Homeowner Association, Property Owner Associations, and Condo Associations in Palm Beach County, filing liens of foreclosure on homeowners who are not paying mandated dues. In Florida, community association fees and dues are not optional. If you choose to live in a community with an association, you are obligated to pay all fees assessed and levied.
