DELRAY BEACH, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2024 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — It’s prison for a West Delray Beach man accused last year of running a fraudulent car dealership. Jason Dennis will spend more than a year in prison and five years on probation, according to a sentencing report obtained by BocaNewsNow.com. Dennis was rebooked into lockup on Tuesday.

As we reported in February of 2023: “The multi-page arrest report outlines allegations of a scam that often left car buyers with multiple loans that they never approved. In at least one case, a trade-in was never paid off. Dennis allegedly told those who claimed to be victims that it was a dealership error, a bank error, or some sort of error that led to the letters, calls, and debt collection attempts. In one case, a woman purchased a used truck, and told Dennis to use a specific lender. He allegedly did. But Dennis is also accused of taking out a duplicate loan, in the buyer’s name, from a second lender. Dennis also allegedly never paid off the woman’s trade — despite an apparent guarantee that he would do so.”

Jason Dennis entered guilty pleas to “grand theft over $20,000; grand theft of a motor vehicle; organized scheme to defraud; and fraudulent use of personal identification.” Adjudication was withheld on all but the “grand theft” charge. For that he’ll spend 15.45 months in prison. Dennis will then spend five years on probation.

Dennis lists 10890 La Reina Road in Delray Beach as his home address. It is co-owned with Lauren Dennis. The Palm Beach County Property Appraiser says the home is valued at $1.2M. Read the original police report here.
