FIRST ARREST IN LOTUS CHILD BATTERY IS MITCHELL SCHUMAN

Mitchell Schuman

INVESTIGATION CONTINUES. ADDITIONAL ARRESTS MAY BE PENDING.

%%
This man is identified as Mitchell Schuman. He is facing a battery charge after allegedly attacking a child.

UPDATE 5:54 p.m. MONDAY APRIL 6, 2026: THERE IS NEW VIDEO SHOWING A WATER BOTTLE BEING THROWN AT THE BOY. VIEW THE UPDATE HERE.

BY: ANDREW COLTON | Editor and Publisher | BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2026 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — The first adult arrested following the alleged assault on a child in the West Boca Raton community of Lotus is Mitchell Schuman. The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office tells BocaNewsNow.com that Schuman is charged with a count of simple battery. He is identified as a “claimant representative” with a New York law firm. We are told additional charges may be pending.

As BocaNewsNow.com reported exclusively on Saturday with video of the incident, several adults are caught on camera roughing up a young boy in Lotus who was allegedly doing “wheelies” on his e-bike. Schuman, as seen in the video, is among the men documented as they are physically restraining the child and depriving him of his cell phone. The child repeatedly asks for his phone to be returned but the adults — including Schuman — say no. BocaNewsNow.com often reports on arrests for this crime alone — it is illegal to deprive someone of their communication device in the State of Florida.

Boca Raton’s Mitchell Schuman, and other men, are seen in physical altercations with a child. They also deprive him of his cell phone. Schuman has been arrested by the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office.

Of note: Schuman was given a “notice to appear” but was not handcuffed and taken to the Palm Beach County Jail. We are awaiting a response from both the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office and the State Attorney’s Office regarding the optics of a law firm employee, seemingly caught on camera committing multiple crimes, not being arrested like other alleged criminals. Suspects accused of battery and depriving an alleged victim of the ability to call 911 are routinely handcuffed and booked into jail.

%%
This man is NOT Mitchell Schuman, but his role in the alleged attack on a child in Lotus Boca Raton is also being reviewed. Do you know who he is?

BocaNewsNow.com has learned, however, that the investigation is not over. The other men seen in the video above may also face charges. There are women seen and heard in the video who did nothing to intervene. We have learned they are also “of interest.”

Mitchell Schuman and his wife Debra — a realtor — moved to Florida from New York. They live in the 8200 block of Wildwood Lakes Drive in Lotus. They purchased their home for $1,050,000 in 2022. They mortgaged $697,000 of that purchase price, according to the Palm Beach County Property Appraiser. Mitchell lists that he’s an “active participant” in his community’s HOA on his official law firm bio, below.

      1. Clearly none of the adults played outside as kids. We built ramps all over our street and would jump them until the lights came on. I’d rather kids doing wheelies down my street than breaking into houses. What a bunch of snobs!

  1. Why did he have privilege of not being handcuffed why was he not locked up ? When will the others get arrested? Who is he bribing? I hope the parents of the boy sue them all!!

    1. THERE ARE 2 SIDES TO EVERY STORY–AND THE WAY THAT THEY ARE REPORTED. THE ACCUSED SEEMS TO HAVE A CLEAN RECORD AND AN INTEREST IN HELPING TEENS IMPROVE(VOLUNTEER COACH). HE IS SEEN RESTRAING THE KID NOT ASSAULTING HIM.
BARBARA–HOLD YOUR LIKELY MISPLACED ANGER UNTIL WE SEE HOW THIS WORKS OUT>

      1. Respectfully, your comment is not a legal defense. In Florida, intentional unwanted touching is battery. Forcibly restraining someone without lawful authority and against his will is false imprisonment — and the statute specifically says that for a child under 13, confinement is against the child’s will if it occurs without parental consent.

If adults used force to take the boy’s phone, Florida’s robbery statute covers taking property from a person with intent to temporarily or permanently deprive him of it when force, violence, assault, or fear is used in the taking.

So ‘he was restraining him, not assaulting him’ is not an exoneration. It is an attempt to relabel conduct Florida law already prohibits. Adults do not acquire police powers because they are irritated at a child. Florida allows force in narrow circumstances like self-defense, not neighborhood vigilantism.

Calling it ‘restraint’ instead of ‘assault’ does not make it lawful. It just makes the excuse sound more rehearsed. I can cite statutes if you’d like. Victim-blaming, which is exactly what you’re doing here, is pathetic on it’s done. When the victim is a child, it’s the pinnacle of indefensible.

      2. Wow, it’s clear you know the “adult” who was charged the way you are defending. You say it’s just “restraining” him but guess what restraining a minor IS ASSAULT. And stealing his property to stop him for call for help is also. Was is also legal when Mitch threw a full water bottle at the child’s face and punched him off his bike and stole his phone? Which is ALL ON VIDEO. they should post that one next, I bet you would change your story. It’s sick how you think. He is A CHILD. AND MITCH WAS ARRESTED NOT THE MINOR. So clearly there’s enough evidence against him. How you can defend and “adult” thinking he is police and commiting battery on a child is beyond me. Yes let’s see how this plays out.

      3. He restrained a child physically n also wouldn’t allow him to call for help 🤔 those are both crimes there was video one of the guys approached n pushed kid off bike n stole his phone n the rest helped illegally detain all for doing a wheelie on an EBike

      4. Shut up. You magat trash. Assault a kid and act like tough guys. We’re coming to the court house to make sure these fucks assaulting children are held accountable

      5. There is two sides. Ones a child being restrained by adults who are not any authority figure or family member. The other is a bunch of cry baby adults. If I roll up to someone holding my child down and not giving them their phone to call me that’s a reason to pull the baseball bat from behind the seat. Because I’d have no idea why these people found the need to have hands on my child or being in possession of my kids property.

      6. The adults broke the law i watched the video that was taken in due the kids did a wheelie the guy fell off his bike when he drive by so he blamed the kid jerked him off his bike and took his phone because he had video proof and this other men were trying to help cover his crime. you cannot stop someone from calling 911 you cannot take his phone in state if Florida is a crime and you cannot hold a juvenile from approaching the man that stole his phone exorcism 5 grown men against one child that did nothing wrong but did a wheelie

      7. There are not 2 sides to this story. No adult should be physically touching, restraining a child and preventing them from contacting their parent. The child’s phone rang and you can even hear an adult say it’s his mother calling. Imagine how that mother felt when her child didn’t answer. As a mother this video triggers me, this child is helpless while being bullied by a group of adults without the authority to prevent a child from contacting their parent. These adults should be charged with assault and robbery!

      8. That is simply bullying!! Nothing more, nothing less! They are bullying a child and stealing his property! They have no right whatsoever to put their hands on him nor his property!

      9. There is only one side when there’s video of the person being restrained against their will, and their property being taken. Short of assault themselves, no one had the right to do these things to him.

      10. TOUCHING A CHILD IS ILLEGAL. You must have voted for Trump since you don’t seem to understand touching a child that does not belong to you IS ILLEGAL.

      11. Restraining him is still considered assault or battery smart one. He’s a child. There was NO need for them to treat him this way. People like you are the reason people act like this.

      12. EntitledRichSnobWhosParentsBeat24/7

You gotta be one of the pos’s in the video illegally detaining a child and stealing his property for laughing at an adult because he fell off his bike cause he’s not skilled enough to do tricks. But the child can’t be a kid and do a wheelie?! Online karma is not fun and the extent goes beyond what you may perceive. Enjoy!

      13. Stop it!!!! Not one of those so called adults had the right to touch that child or take his property. I don’t care how clean his record is, it can shine bright like a diamond for all I care. KEEP YA HANDS OFF OTHER PEOPLE THINGS AND KIDS. Also, it said he’s from NY?!?!? Where I’m from my mother, dad, papi, uncles, aunt, grandma, and cousins would’ve been at ya door. Being from NY, he should know better. If you blame anyone other than the punk ass, overgrown so called adult bullies, you need a high five to the face too.

      14. So the adults took the CHILD’s phone and the kid wanted it back and instead of this dude helping the kid, he tries restraining him… essentially helping facilitate another crime in Florida by keeping the child from their communication device. Assault is assault and good people do not assault and facilitate crimes against children. Making excuses for criminals is why there’s one running the white house right now. Do better.

      15. How obviously biased you are. The man doesn’t care about children. He physically restrained and wanted control over the child. He is a sick and deranged individual. He is getting privileges for being rich. Something that has plagued our country for a long time and needs to change.

      16. You cannot legally restrain a child without a crime taking place and the only crime taking place is this entitled man and his goons stealing a child’s property while harassing and assaulting him. If you think anything that took place in this situation is okay you need to be investigated as well.

      17. talking in caps as though you are yelling is getting no point across. there is so two sides to this, the video is out there for everyone to see. they assaulted that boy and now they’re making arrests. seems pretty clear and straightforward to me

      18. Are you braindead Pressman?
This is clearly assault, also why rob his phone? They simply have no right of doing so, not even if he did do wheelies on his E-Bike (which i highly doubt, they are heavy, even small ones)

Also stop yelling, this is not your Kindergarten parent meeting.

      19. There’s nothing misplaced at all.
You’re trying to do damage control for you fellow karens. So the kid laughed at the guy cause he fell off his bike. That in no way justifies him taking his phone and all them grabbing and restraining him while also yelling him his face instead of just giving him his phone back.

They need to be held accountable and no amount of damage control by you or any other HOA freaks is gonna stop it.

      20. You are an absolute idiot. Beyond ignorant.. It’s unlawful restraint, false imprisonment, BATTERY- The physical act of unwanted touching. But first and foremost, ITS A CHILD. These are not security guards, not police. They’re rich, entitled white men from Boca. No adult should EVER manhandle a child like that while they deprive him of his cell phone (also a crime) How can you watch this and not want to jump out of your skin, let alone make a comment as unbelievably stupid as yours?

      21. He knocked a child off his bike and stole a child’s personal property, he is not the parent of the child and therefore he does not have the authority to tell that kid what to do. That child was surrounded by multiple adults, and obviously wanted to call a parent/guardian or the police to understand how to proceed in a situation like that and it is illegal to physically prevent someone from calling 911, theft is illegal, everything that deplorable group of arrogant a—holes did was illegal and they saw nothing wrong with it. What they did was assault, according to the law.

      22. Pressman,

Are you serious oright now? He had NO RIGHT to take the kids phone. The kid was trying to get his phone back from one man whole another was holding him and pushing him back. Second, He was caught on video throwing a water bottle at the kid. ” Helping the teen’ and a “volunteer coach” by taking his phine and restraining him? You sound like a family member, friend or fellow transplant>

      23. Wow, have you seen the whole video, he confessed to takling the kids and taking the phone. It escalated. If you sympathize its because you identify with that lawyer and forgot what being a kid or a dad is.

      24. Doesn’t matter what his interests are he still restrained a kid and stole his phone. Hes acting like a middle school bully when he’s pushing 50. He’s grown and should know better. I’d be embarrassed if I was him and I’d be embarrassed to be you too.

      25. you can not restrain people, and especially not a kid, even if they are in the wrong, call the police. being on the HOA doesnt give you the authority to act like the police.

      26. He’s lucky that wasn’t my child because I’d be the one getting arrested. Putting your hands on someone else’s child is a dangerous endeavor. All those grown people and not one stood up for the child. Those people are horrible human beings.

      27. He assaulted the kid when he threw a water bottle at the kid when he was on his bike, causing him to fall off the bike. The kid had that on video, which is likely why the guy stole his phone — to delete the evidence.

        1. Cheryl, the men had taken his phone and Mitchell Schuman is now charged with theft. The child was trying to get his property back. Please read the facts before commenting.

        2. Pressman, if ANYONE restrained my child and took their phone, I would expect charges to brought up against them. Volunteer coach or not, you do not put hands on someone else’s child. I could understand if the child was hitting or beating someone but in this case you can clearly see the adults initiated the situation. They were kids out enjoying spring break and the weather not out breaking into homes or vandalizing peoples things but playing. Maybe you don’t know the concept of play, maybe you were an adult right off the bat and never had the privilege of playing I guess.
I’m so glad my parents let us play outside and that we had neighbors who enjoyed us all instead of turning into the Karen & Ken squad on us. Get a life and let the kids play you a**hole.

      28. You clearly know why he wasn’t arrested, handcuffed and taken to jail.
        1. Last name
        2. legal professional
        3. rich white guy.
Now imagine if he was the exact opposite while all other facts stay the same. His booking photo would be all over this article.

      29. The boy was wrong for doing wheelies on a bike in the middle of the street. He acted like a spoiled child. If he got hurt by a car I am positive his parents would sue the driver. Children have to be taught that there are consequences for their actions.

        1. Will consider considering that an adult shoved him off his bike stole his phone and then an entire group of adults restrained him and continued to play keep away with his phone and repeatedly break the law seems like adults need to learn that actions have consequences too

        2. So that gave a group of grown men n women to approach, push him off his bike n steal his phone no matter what the kid did those are all illegal acts🤷🏼‍♀️

        3. This is a nasty comment, a child being a child will never warrant someone taking their property and assaulting them. They were in the wrong! That behavior is never okay! People like you make this world a nasty place.

        4. and IF the kid crashed, thats a separate story; however, the adults had no right to take the young childs communication device, and put hands on him. they are uneducated towards the law and this was a wakeup call they all needed. if you are defending the adults, you’re no more than a adult toddler than them. and you say children need to know consequences to their actions. however in this case, the adults are learning what happens when they break the law. so it seems the adults here are the ones learning from their actions.

        5. Wheelies don’t cause you to get arrested. Taking and refusing to return someone’s property does. The behavior of all adults involved was beyond appalling. They overstepped their boundaries because they felt entitled and they were all sharing one brain cell between them.

        6. You must be one of the annoying women that was there condoning all that bad behavior from a bunch of clueless privileged guys who had nothing better to do than pick on one small boy. Grow tf up!

        7. I find it funny that the ones defending these “adults” are saying that the children we acting like “children “ and they need consequences, in the video it seemed like to me that the “adults” were acting like children, bully children. It’s ridiculous to even try to defend their behavior. I feel so sad for that kid because he couldn’t even call his parents. Those “adults “ stopped him from calling his parents while they tried to punk him around. The sheriffs office should have arrested all on camera doing wrong behaviors, theres your investigation right there, you can see it first hand. Shame on every adult involved. He’s a kid. If he was out here stealing stuff out of your cars you’d have a reason to complain, get over yourself. If you don’t like children just say that and move to a 50 and older neighborhood…. Be so for real right now

        8. Sure a child acted like a spoiled child imagine that….. but the adults didn’t act like adults they all acted like criminals so what’s your excuse for their disgusting behavior assault on a child is against the law keeping his phone against the law restraining him against the law and being down right bullies… but you go ahead and blame a child for doing a wheelie lol smh

        9. Ellen he may have been doing wheelies but he didn’t get hurt until those men put their hands on him and took his phone away.
Now I’m waiting to see the other video to see if an adult pulled the child off his e-bike or knocked him to the ground or hit him in the face with a water bottle!
Arrest the adults who touched the child and wouldn’t give him his phone back!

        10. So how about I take your phone and keep it away from you while you’re trying to get it from me, begging me to give you your phone back. See how you would act! A child is being bullied by all of these adults and you call him a spoiled brat because he was being a CHILD! Those adults will face consequences for assault a child! And you need consequences for thinking that it’s ok!

        11. What law said he can’t, what statute, cite me a public interest quorum that addressed this and said a kid doing WHEELIES is illegal. If can’t then kindly stfu. That kid was being a kid. The only one wrong here is the AARP gang

        12. Who tf are you to call that kid names?!?! You must be the dumb bish that was recording. Guess what, if the kid got hurt that’s what parents and hospitals are for, of which you are neither. The only people breaking the law in that video are the fucking adults and as a mom you are SO lucky that wasn’t my kid

        13. Since when does it take a dozen adults, men and women, to restrain a child. Just because the 1st adult fell off his bike and that kid and his friends laughed, there was no excuse for the (alleged)adults behavior. The adults broke the law and should all be arrested.

        14. If you feel a child is acting in a way that is unsafe and could cause harm then you can record, contact security and/or the police, show them the video so that they can deal with the juvenile, get in touch with their parents and inform them of what they were doing and allow them to deal with it appropriately. What you do not do is commit assault and battery, kidnapping and theft on that child. The fact that I have to explain this to my it is baffling. Boomers are so freaking weird about entitlement ffs.

        15. Ellen you are wrong.
Adults need to be taught that there are consequences to their actions, such as being handcuffed before they were taken into custody like everybody would have been. You don’t touch a child, nor restrain a child and certainly never take a device from a child pleading for their phone to call their Mom or Dad. All of the evidence is on the video and if this man isn’t convicted this country is in worse shape than I thought. He certainly cannot afford a civil suit but that should come next.
Every adult present should be charged for aiding and abetting the assault of a child and theft of his device.

        16. Ellen is another Karen who is probably the areas crazy cat lady and never had kids or a husband. Let kids play, he was near his home and OMG did a wheely in the street!! He’s such a menus to society, he’ll probably be in jail before he’s 15 acting like this… LOL. You’re a joke EKaren. Go and cuddle with your cats now.

        1. Wow we have a behind the screen tough guy here. Love it!!
Jaclyn my dear, the Ellen that commented above, isn’t me. Hating is a real ugly quality so I’m sending you hugs. But I appreciate having you as part of my fan club!

    2. disguting four adults picking on a kid-he should have been Danville’s and taken to jail, but what do you expect from the most imcompent police department on the face of the earth

    3. so terrible to see these bored bullies trying to keep up with the Jones’s. this is an absolute disgrace to see such adult reckless behavior. Bullying and man handling a young boy just trying to have fun outdoors on his bike.whoever that lady in the background screaming ‘juvey” should be arrested for verbally abusing a child also.
all of these adults involved are terrible examples of human beings and should be arrested and fined.

    4. Absolutely horrible! And those women don’t exclude those women because they are inciting it!!!! if one of those women had stood up for that child the men would’ve controlled themselves. The women had more control over the situation than the men as they always do and these women should be ashamed of themselves! I hope that the sheriff throws the book at them. That child was detained unlawfully and deserved as a minor to get in touch with his mother! He had every right not to disclose who he was to strangers and they had no right to touch his personal belongings, regardless of what he did that woman should not be permitted to be part of any PTA or child’s supervisory position! She obviously cannot tell the difference between protecting a child and inciting men to act in ways that they should not be behaving.

    5. Everyone is quick to accuse the adults. We’ve all seen a so-called “kid” attack teachers, bully other kids and kill. The proverbial “he’s just a kid.” doesn’t always apply. The boy wasn’t exactly calm. The adults weren’t violent just restraining. The boy jumped on one man! I want to know why his phone was taken away. Ok that’s a problem but that kid didn’t do anything to help his cause.

      1. who are the adults here???? how would you feel if 8 adults were attacking you and stole your communication device for riding your bike.
to me the boy not only looks well-mannered just scared out of his mind- and rightfully so.
where has everyone’s morals and protective nature gone.

      2. You sound absolutely ridiculous! I’m sure if this child has “killed” before he would not be free to be doing something as horrifying as doing wheelies down the street on an e-bike. And what gives any of these GROWN MEN the right to put their hands on anyone else’s child or take the child’s phone? Would you feel the same way it this was done to YOUR CHILD?

      3. My guess is that they kept his phone to make sure that he didn’t leave the scene until they knew who he was and called his parents. Unfortunately, you can’t treat somebody else’s kid like your own and put your hands on him. The best thing to do would have been to take his photo and called 911 to report dangerous behavior by a juvenile.

      4. The ” kid” is exactly that- a kid. The adults have absolutely no rught to put their hands on him or take his phone. The adults are completely out of line touching this child and taking his phone??? Absolutely nuts.

      5. I mean watch the video the kid was trying to get back his property and was repeatedly being harassed and restrained by adults twice his size I would’ve jumped on the old man too old guy had no reason to take his phone the kid keeps saying that he has a video that this old guy shoved him off his bike I’m guessing that the videos is on the phone and that’s why the old guy won’t let him have it is because he wants security to allow him to delete the Video. Honestly what possible reason could he absolutely have to take the kids phone from him which is against the law and refused to give it back. It’s not like there was a question that it wasn’t his phone the guy literally admits it in the video

      6. He was being surrounded by a group of adults one tripped him in the middle of the video. The other was caught, saying he pushed him off his bike and took his phone because the kid laughed at the older man falling off his bike, which is no reason to do any of those things. His mom was calling his phone and the adult holding the phone said he was getting a call and still wouldn’t allow the child to talk to his mother please gain some common sense before typing something so stupid.

      7. you alright there in the head champ? Clearly you aren’t all the way there in the head.😂 just stop commenting bullshit and just keep your mouth closed yeah? Cool.

      8. They took his phone bc the kid recorded the adult man when he threw a water bottle at the kid and shoved him off his bike he was trying to cover his crime and i believe if that phone didn’t have a pin he would have deleted that video and went on with his day. I believe the other men were trying to help the guy bc one took the phone and started to go to his house with it until it started ringing he even said it’s his mom yet would not hand him the phone

        1. I believe this too. he wanted to delete the video the kid had. Those videos need to be released so the public can see and the parents can get justice. Mitch (the man in blue) was harassing the boy and threw a water bottle at him on his bike then pushed him off his bike and fought him. (all on video!!!). He is lucky he doesn’t get attempted murder charges because aren’t these bikes classified as motor vehicles now! Trying to knock someone off a motorcycle would warrant so many charges!

Regardless, the other adults in this video all lied (allegedly) to the police when they arrived and said they never touched him…. Which is why more arrest weren’t made. We need to identify the men and women here and bring them to justice!

      9. Please go straight to the seventh level of Dante’s inferno. We did see what happened and the adults were wrong, full stop, and if it was my kids I’d be putting hands and feet on all of them

      10. Good job at making up scenarios in your head how this kid is apparently attacking teachers, bullying others and about to kill somebody. You guys are so sick in your head.

    6. Well done, I support his actions these kids are out of control. The are a danger to drivers and people. The kids and parents of these kids who show no concern for public safety should be arrested. They drive head on towards cars! Cut them off! Ride with fake guns! Curse! And scare the people. I know one senior Community had to extend the security fence cause these kids came in and knocked on doors and destroyed property at night. Come on parents teach your kids some respect.
Its lucky nothing worse happened. For sure they will play chicked with wrong driver or point fake or bb gun at wrong person and will be dead..

      I support this.guy 100%

      1. I am willing to bet that if you have kids and someone put their hands on your kid(s) like this guy did you would be mad as hell. The guy was 100% in the wrong. Unless it’s a life saving reason or helping them if they are in your care, you DO NOT put your hands on a child that is not yours.

      2. Just because the kid is popping some wheelies in a neighborhood that he lives in does not justify a bunch of adults breaking the law because they’re upset with him. You say the kids need to learn respect honestly it looks like the adults in the situations are the ones that need that lesson. If someone had attacked me by knocking me off my bike and then try to take my phone I just like that kid would be well within our rights to fight back to get that phone. So you can agree all day long until you’re blue in the face with what those disrespectful immature pathetic adults did but you would be just as wrong as they are. The fact is that the kid isn’t gonna face any sort of repercussions for the wheelies in the street because at most that would’ve gotten him a stern talking to from the cops maybe even a phone call to his parents that’s pretty much about it but the fact that the adults escalated it to criminal offenses means that they’re not even gonna bother with the kid they’re going to be pressing charges against the adults who literally broke the law multiple times and I hope the kids parents also sue those assholes

      3. Ebikes are specifically banned in Lotus. These young boys ride all over the roads potentially causing an accident and have no respect for the community rules. They took his phone so they could contact his parents. I am sure the parents disregarded the community rules when they purchased the Ebike for their son. Entitled parents breed brats.

        1. Idgaf what their reasons for touching that child or his phone. If he violated a rule that’s what security is for. You, and none of the rest of ya geriatric gang, had the right to touch him and take his property. HIS property. Not yours, not those men HIS PROPERTY!!!! You think being an adult automatically confers respect. Respect is earned and you and the goonie goo goo gang don’t deserve any and should be underneath the jail

      4. Stfu, you clearly neither watched the video or read the article. You and all your ilk need to understand something. Idgaf if that little boy was standing on his head doing wheelies while hugging swords KEEP YA HANDS OFF HIM AND HIS PROPERTY!!! If he plays chicken and get hurt that’s what parents and hospitals are for you low brow cave man. You have no authority to touch that child

      5. Nothing here shows kids out of control. Stop trying to make up lame ass explanations why you hate kids and love old white adults with a cop fetish they try to live out in public.

    7. who are the adults here???? how would you feel if 8 adults were attacking you and stole your communication device for riding your bike.
to me the boy not only looks well-mannered just scared out of his mind- and rightfully so.

    8. (This comment was edited due to slanderous and inaccurate information). BocaNewsNow: perhaps you watched a different video. The video of this event shows only one aggressor, the teenager attacking the men to get his phone back. All the adults did was take his phone to get him to contact his parents. The logic being to get the parents to take responsibility for their delinquent child, as opposed to calling the police on the kid. The only physical contact was the boy repeatedly attacking the adults – which started before the video, the boy threatening and taunting the elderly man causing him to fall off his bike. Why didn’t you report how this incident began? And why was it necessary for you to post personal and financial information about your target here? The teenager was the lone aggressor in the video. We can only hope both the teenager and the parents are ultimately held accountable. And in the future, adults will directly call police when faced with threats from neighborhood youth rather than give the youth and their parents a chance to be accountable and rectify the situation for the benefit of all involved.

      1. Sorry T you couldn’t be more wrong. The adults are supposed to act like adults and calm a situation down, not incite one. Taking his phone so he can call his parents makes no sense. They are lucky that was not my kid cuz I would have been back to fight all four or those guys putting hands on him when he just needs to get his phone back. I’m sure if he got he would have either called his mom right away to come confront you guys or just run home out of sight. I’m not saying he didn’t ride recklessly, I’m not saying they did not have a right to admonish him, but they had absolutely no right to take his phone or be as physical with them as they were.

      2. Yeah well, you’re wrong. I’m sure you haven’t seen all the videos but you will. That POS wannabe George Zimmerman thoroughly assaulted that twelve year old boy multiple times. Please make sure to come back and edit your comments and apologize for your ignorance when they’re released.

      3. You didn’t watch the video very well. It started bc the kid videos the adult shoving him off his bike they tried to get security up their bc he was with HMO so he could probably talk the guy into dieting the video after getting the pin. Another adult took the phone and said here I’ll take the phone to my house and started across the road with it and it started ringing he said did anyone know the pin is his MOTHER. this was 100%about getting that video off the kids phone

      4. If you don’t shut your old , decrepit, lying ass up. If you take someone’s property they have every right to use reasonable force to retrieve if. That CHILD repeatedly said give me my phone back and, instead of doing that, y’all played a grown ass game of keep away from a CHILD. Just because you why to high school with Moses does NOT mean you have authority over that, or anybody else’s kids.

      5. Yea okay. “all they did” are you kidding me?! What they did was illegal, and should have NEVER have happened. The mother called multiple times and if “all they wanted was a parent” SOMEONE should have PICKED UP THE CALL! Someone should have deescalated this. SOMEONE should have helped that poor boy. We need to find out who these people are; both the men and women….sickening.

      6. Yea okay. “all they did” are you kidding me?! What they did was illegal, and should have NEVER have happened. The mother called multiple times and if “all they wanted was a parent” SOMEONE should have PICKED UP THE CALL! Someone should have deescalated this. SOMEONE should have helped that poor boy…..sickening.

    9. I am so glad that I don’t live in community with kids. I have seen kids from the Lyons Road communities recklessly riding their bikes up and down Lyons and even on Boynton Beach Blvd. It’s a miracle that more aren’t killed (one was a few years ago when he decided to cross the street on his bike against a red light). Why do their parents allow them to endanger themselves on these bikes and ebikes?

    10. Nobody injured. Just everybody – the adults, the kid, and the commenters all got their feelings hurt. Is there anyone left who can stay calm? Imagine if this were something truly serious.

      1. Battery on a CHILD is serious, theft of property is serious, harassment of s minor IS SERIOUS and I will not be calm when t see overgrown bullies threatening and bullying a literal child under the guise of performative “adulthood’. You’re an embarrassment

    11. Make this go viral – and famous !!!!
Taking this child’s phone, putting there hands on a minor, not letting him call his mom. Repulsive. They should ALL be held accountable, esp the women.

    12. A “Notice to Appear” (a “Desk Appearance Ticket” in New York) is simply one of several methods to initiate a criminal proceeding. Though it is usually teserved for low level crimes, it bears no importance to the case. There is little need to do a full blown arrest which needlessly expends the time and resources of. The Sheriff’s office. It is not and should not be thought of as a weapon to punish the accused before guilt is determined. Focus oon substantive issues rather than procedural minutiae.

      1. No i disagree they broke several laws and just bc he’s from a lawfirm he doesn’t have to go through the b.s. any other citizen would have to deal with… being cuffed ride in the back go to jail wait to talk to judge them bond out that’s how the rest of the world has to do it….. unless your well off. Two tear justice system one for the rich and one for the poor. Fuc that

    13. This Schuman dude isn’t a lawyer. He went to Oneonta which is a 3rd tier state school in upstate NY known mostly for drinking. It is a gym teacher college, really.

    14. Mitch the bit*h. Change your name to A. Karen. All those bald men and that stupid lady filming need to get a life. She needs love from her deadbeat husband. Debbie Larsen Shuman realtor is not one to be trusted as she is associated with a criminal. Go back to malverne where you came from!

    15. “Holding your phone until security arrives”, looked to me like several times he was trying to figure out how to open it to delete the video, also one of the bald, tough guys was creepily, waaay too handsy for my liking, holding the kid around the waist and stroking his arm!

    16. Idiots siding with adults

All you idiots on the adults side are absolutely ridiculous. You should be ashamed of yourselves. Hiding behind a screen writing these hateful comments on how a lone kid was in the wrong for trying to get back his phone is absolutely embarrassing. He was being held back while trying to grab his phone back, how else would he get it back if he didn’t try adding force. Not one of the adults were trying to listen to what the kid was saying. The lady recording is ridiculous with all the yapping like you’re an embarrassment and POS. What was the reason of not giving the kid his phone back? So the video proof wont be shown so that the idiot in blue wont be in the wrong. Watching the video pissed me off so bad. If I were in the kids position I would be furious, especially if I were his parents.

    17. I know them from being in the same community Ive had some interactions. Mitch is the nicest guy, always trying to help others in the community and his family are some of the kindest people I’ve met.

    18. To all the people agreeing with the adults. How would this situation have unfolded if the kid was a 22 year old? Or a 34 year old? If a man stole someone’s phone and wouldn’t give it back, with the help of 8 other people, we would call that theft or robbery. Y’all think, just because the victim of these crimes was a child, that gives any random stranger off the street the full legal authority to do whatever they want cuz he was “being disrespectful”. I live near dallas Texas and found out about this, so it’s officially became national news and I promise you it’s a 98% vote siding with the kid. The entitlement of these grown ass men is infuriating, and everyone agreeing with the adults should go to therapy to learn why they hate children so much. Y’all sound like the type to respond to bad grades with a belt, rather than tutoring. I hope they all get charged, and fined. This kids only possible wrongdoing is “he’s disrespectful” and I’d argue that he’s the most respectful person in the whole situation. Respect is not given, it’s not the default setting. Be polite to everyone until they either EARN or LOSE your respect. And these adults lost all of it the second they decided this child, who was doing the same exact thing they did as kids in the 70’s and 80’s, deserved to be robbed, assaulted, and bullied.

    19. Boomers complain that kids don’t play outside anymore but then harass them when they do. A kid can’t even exist and be a little bit loud without your average Karen clutching her pearls and calling 911 these days.

    20. Who do these people think they are?? They all need to to to jail how’s it possible that 4 -5 grown men and who knows how many woman are picking on this kid for riding his bike??
i hope they all do a month in jail and pay fines
let me catch someone doing that my kid!!!! bunch of low lifes

    21. I hope you “men” are proud of yourselves for ganging up on a child. Not one of you had enough balls to stick up for the kid. All he wanted was his phone back. Mitchell, you should be ashamed of yourself. I suspect if this kid was 17, 6’3”and on the high school football team, you might not have taken his phone. As for the guy that blindsided this kid and tripped him as he was trying to get his phone back, we await the day you are charged. I assume you now realize the injury(s) you may have caused. As for the low intellect woman who said; “you can go to Juvy, these kids don’t work, they don’t the pay the dues.” Duh, that’s the point, they are kids. Having said all that, none of us like kids doing wheelies on their bikes but we were all kids and most of us have kids but you all handled this the worst way a thoughtful adult should have.

    22. I am so deeply disturbed by this video and so called adults. You can hear 1 woman saying the kids have no respect, for one thing that is taught by the parents but what was so wrong with what he was doing. He is acting like kids do and he was not hurting anyone. The men in this video behaved way worse than what this child did and are a horrible example of an adult. This video needs to be BLASTED over the internet, local news and wherever possible they should be fired from their jobs and charges brought against them. I hope his parents sue the pants off all of them

THIS NEEDS TO BE SENT TO THE LAE FIRM HE WORKS FOR

    23. All I can say is they are so lucky this happened in (Liberal) Palm Beach County, and not Polk County where Sheriff Grady Judd, would have locked these adults up and thrown away the key, then he would of posted a viral video making fun of these so called men assaulting a minor! In Polk County you Touch my kid and keep him from calling me on the phone I paid for????? One sure way for these grown ass men to receive an adult ass whoppin!

    24. This is exactly why kids can’t enjoy being outside, because of adults like this. We need kids to get off their phones and computers and go outside and be kids. If you had a problem with the kid, call the security. Everyone of those people need to be charged. They should all have write an apology letter to the kid. The two men need to go to a anger management class. All of this over the kid laughing because the guy fell off his bike and the kid wheelied his own bike. This is exactly the kind of people we are tired of moving into Florida. This is the Sunshine state. The kids come first.

    25. While I’d be willing to wager that the kids weren’t following the various traffic and e-bike regulations… that doesn’t mean vigilante justice is now legal. The adults that were directly involved need to be appropriately charged. Then, maybe next time, they’ll call the proper authorities to handle the situation, rather than trying to take matters into their own hands.

    26. Wow, these adults are incredibly dumb

I hope his parents sue the **** out of them. What classless losers. Get a damn hobby or any interest outside of interacting with kids you don’t know.

Bunch of creeps & weirdos. Hope the kid and his parents are doing ok.
