POMPANO BEACH, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2026 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A Tamarac man is dead after being struck by a vehicle in what investigators are calling a hit-and-run, and Broward Sheriff’s Office detectives are now asking the public for help finding the driver responsible. We first reported on the crash on Monday.
Shortly after 8 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 23, BSO deputies were called to the 700 block of Southwest 10th Drive in Pompano Beach after someone reported a body lying in the grass swale near Fairview Park. Pompano Beach Fire Rescue responded and pronounced the man dead at the scene. He was identified as 44-year-old Lacurtis Knight of Tamarac.
Investigators with BSO’s Traffic Homicide Investigations unit say Knight’s injuries were consistent with being struck by a vehicle — but not where his body was found. Detectives believe the crash happened somewhere else and that Knight ended up in the swale afterward. No description of the vehicle or driver has been released.
Broward Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to an arrest. Anyone with information is asked to contact BSO Detective Mike Wiley at 954-321-4841, submit a tip through the SaferWatch app, call Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS (8477), or go online to BrowardCrimeStoppers.org.
