TEEN FOUND NEAR DEATH IN WATER. WHY IS FWC REFUSING TO COMMENT?
BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2026 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — The critical crash off the coast of Boca Raton that sources tell us left a teenager near death on Monday is being kept quiet by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission. It’s unclear why.
BocaNewsNow.com was first to report Monday on the incident. A teen — according to information we obtained — was hit in the head by a wave runner. That teen, believed to be 15 or 16, was found unconscious and face down in the ocean by life guards part of Boca Raton’s highly-trained Ocean Rescue team. Ocean Rescue called for Boca Raton paramedics who rushed to the scene and found the child in and out of consciousness. They all worked to resuscitate him.
The child’s condition led Palm Beach County Fire Rescue to send Trauma Hawk. The teen was loaded onto the chopper and flown just minutes away to Delray Medical Center — where his condition remains unclear Tuesday evening.
Because of the location of the incident — just off shore from South Inlet Park — multiple agencies have told us that Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) is responsible for the investigation. But FWC refuses to comment.
The agency said nothing on Monday and — when asked again on Tuesday — responded only with a terse note that they’ll respond when they have something to say. What’s unclear: have investigators identified the driver of the wave runner? Was that person potentially under the influence of alcohol or drugs? Why was the wave runner in an area where it hit a teen in the water? Was this just a horrific accident or is there more to it? How long did it take for FWC to assign an officer? When did that officer arrive on the scene?
