Another Honor For Doctors At Boca Raton Regional Hopspital

BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) — Congratulations to six doctors at Boca Raton Regional Hospital who are vying for a major award in Palm Beach County. Their mere nominations are an honor.

Six Boca Raton Regional Hospital physicians and staff have been nominated for the Palm Beach County Medical Society’s Heroes in Medicine Awards and will be honored at the Society’s 10th Annual luncheon, held at the Kravis Center, Cohen Pavilion on Thursday, May 9th. Nominees from Boca Regional are:

Healthcare Innovation Finalist:

W. Anthony Lee, MD, Vascular Surgery, Director of Endovascular Program at Christine E. Lynn Heart & Vascular Institute

Healthcare Provider Hero Finalists:

Darci McNally, LCSW, Director of Mulimodality Clinics & Support Services at Eugene M. & Christine E. Lynn Cancer Institute

Mary Ellen Koehler, RN, Specialty Clinician in Urology, Operating Room

Student Hero Finalist:

Jennifer Rose, Debbie-Rand Memorial Service League Volunteer

Physician International Hero Finalist:

Frank Cirisano, MD, Gynecologic Oncology

Physician Local/National Hero Finalist:

Howard Goldman, MD, Ophthalmology

The Awards distinguish both individuals and organizations in the healthcare field that provide exceptional services to meet the needs of the community. Nominees were judged by a committee established by the Palm Beach County Medical Society Services. The categories include:

Bruce Rendina Professional Hero – Recognizes an individual whose profession is an integral part of the healthcare system but is not a direct provider of patient care who utilizes abilities to improve the health of the local, national and/or global communities.

Community Outreach Hero – Recognizes an individual, company, institution, organization or agency that has devoted time, skills and/or other resources to assist others and/or contribute to the betterment of healthcare.

Healthcare Educator Hero – A physician or other educator who has made outstanding contributions to healthcare education in Palm Beach County.

Healthcare Innovation Hero – An individual or company who has been primarily responsible for development and implementation of a scientific advance that will save lives or substantially improve the quality of life for people. This advance can also be the invention of a new device, process or service.

Healthcare Provider Hero (Non-Physician) – This award recognizes an individual or group who may be direct providers of healthcare, but are not physicians.

Physician International Hero – This award recognizes an MD or a DO who embodies the characteristics of the profession and has contributed to the betterment of healthcare outside the United States, or has made outstanding contributions to medical education outside the United States.

Physician Local/National Hero – Recognizes an MD or a DO who embodies the characteristics of the profession and has contributed to the betterment of healthcare locally and/or nationally, or has made outstanding contributions to medical education.

Student Hero – Recognizes a high school, college or medical student – or groups of these students – who have made outstanding commitments to healthcare of the community locally, nationally and/or globally and as a result have made or are making a significant difference.

Proceeds from the ceremony benefit Project Access, a group of physician volunteers that help provide healthcare to low-income and uninsured residents of Palm Beach County.
