BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2024 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — In what could be a record for the annual Boca Bash — the private and often rowdy event on Lake Boca — only one person had been arrested as of early Monday morning. If that arrest log holds, this could be a record-setting year for the event which often sees significant numbers of boaters and partiers jailed.

As of 5 a.m. Monday, only Zach Chikovsky of Federal Highway in Boca Raton had been jailed by Florida Fish and Wildlife Agents for DUI — Boating Under The Influence. He also has been charged with possession of a controlled substance without a prescription. Chikovsky was taken into custody Sunday afternoon. He was released early Monday on $6,000 bond.

Boca Bash, on Lake Boca, is an event that the City of Boca Raton tries yearly to distance itself from. This year, multiple parks are boat ramps were closed in anticipation of the event which often brings thousands to Lake Boca and causes problems in the area. During COVID, partiers ignored rules and restrictions and took the lake — often in exceptionally close proximity to each other.

Check back later Monday for updates from BocaNewsNow.com on additional arrests — if any. BocaNewsNow.com’s admittedly rough records suggest this could have been the calmest Boca Bash over the past several years.

  1. A tragedy waiting to happen. No dedicated lanes for rescue boats in the dense pack of rafted boats 7-10 deep. Few marine patrols circled the pack. The City says it’s helpless because the Lake is State-controlled, the State has little interest in pre-planning other than sending 1-2 small boats. Its a marine disaster in the works.

    1. If that is the case. Then why are Boca residents paying for Boca police to even bother showing up. This is a big excuse that Boca should reimburse the residents for a waste of PD time.
