BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) — Noted Boca developer Greg Talbott shot himself in the head and was found in his Boca Raton condo Wednesday by an employee he summoned earlier to come to his condo to pick up checks.
While BocaNewsNow.com does not routinely report suicide, other media elevating this to a news event has led us to publish this report.
Talbott, a controversial figure, is believed to be the reason former Boca Raton police chief Andrew Scott resigned. From Jose Lambier at Gossip Extra:
In September 2005, Talbott was arrested and charged with domestic violence after he hit his wife and a manager at Luna Pazza, a downtown restaurant, then fought with cops who responded to a 911 call for help.Hours later, however, he was ordered freed by then-Chief Andrew Scott – to the holler of favoritism from the police union.

In 2010, Palm Beach County Sheriff’s deputies seized some of his personal property, including 15 loaded weapons, most of his furniture, dishes and electronics and four cars, including a Bentley. The move came in an attempt to force Talbott to pay a judgment against him, but a judge ordered the property returned — minus the guns.
About the same time, Talbott’s 20,000-square-foot mansion in West Boca was seized by lenders because he defaulted on a $12.6 million-loan.
Talbott died at Delray Medical Center.

Greg Talbott was a good friend of mine who could no longer handle life’s burdens. He took his own life on May 14, 2014 and died yesterday May 15, 2014. He was a member in good standing of the same 12 step program we attended together. He was clean and sober for years and was trying to clean up the past that haunts many of the sick and suffering alcoholics and addicts in the world. We spent many hours together trying to address the demons of his past and I know that he had much regret and sorrow for the things that he could not repair.
Greg was a man of integrity at the time of his demise and we will all miss him very much. My group and I send out our prayers to his family and friends.
